Séan McCann, the “Shantyman”, in concert w/ Andrea Aragon at Chalmers United Church

Séan McCann, formerly of Great Big Sea, brings his powerful voice, inspiring message, and irresistible sense of humour to stages across Canada and the U.S., since striking off on his own a decade ago. Séan’s sixth solo album, SHANTYMAN, proves that a 200-year-old, traditional sea shanty and a modern, new wave pop song can really be just a whistle apart stylistically. Infectious (in a good way) sing-alongs from an album brimming with them, SHANTYMAN honours both the recent and the ancient musical past by blending two of McCann’s favourite genres in foot stompers guaranteed to lift spirits after the many months we’ve all spent largely in lonely isolation. Part of the evening will be dedicated to recounting stories and singing songs connected to his powerful memoir “One Good Reason”, co-written with his wife, Andrea Aragon. As a special bonus, Andrea will be joining Séan to give her perspective.
